Restaurant prices in Canada change more often than most people think. A coffee that cost one price in January can cost a little more by summer, and the same burger can cost different amounts in Toronto, Calgary and Halifax. This page explains where our prices come from, how to tell when a page was last checked, and what to keep in mind before you order.

Where our prices come from

When we check a page, we start with the restaurant’s own app or website and pick a real store, usually in a big city like Toronto, Vancouver or Calgary. We write down the regular menu price for pickup, before tax.

For the pages we check, we do not use prices from delivery apps. Uber Eats, DoorDash and SkipTheDishes often list items for more than you would pay at the counter, so their numbers make a restaurant look more expensive than it really is. Some of our older pages may still include delivery app prices, which is one more reason we are rechecking them.

How to tell when a page was last checked

Pages we have checked carry a short note near the top with the date and the city of the store we used. If a page does not have that note yet, treat its prices as a rough guide. Those pages are older, and we are going through them one restaurant at a time.

Why your bill might not match

  • Each location sets its own prices, so two stores of the same chain in the same city can charge slightly different amounts.
  • Airports, highway service centres, stadiums and campuses almost always charge more.
  • Our prices do not include GST, HST, PST or a tip.
  • Limited time items and deals come and go quickly. A deal you read about here may have ended by the time you get to the store.

Found a price that is wrong?

Please tell us. Send the restaurant name, the item, the price you paid and the city through our contact page. A photo of the receipt helps but is not required. We look at every report and update the page once we can confirm it.

Who runs this site

Menus Prices Canada is an independent website. We are not connected to, sponsored by or endorsed by any of the restaurants we write about, and all brand and menu item names belong to their owners. The site earns money from the ads you see on it. Advertising never decides which prices we publish or what we say about a restaurant.
